“There Is No Use Knowing All Except The Self. If The Self Is Known All Others Become Known”

- Sri Ramana Mahashri

Mindfulness is an energy that we generate when we bring our mind back to our body and get in touch with what is going on in the present moment, within us and around us.

"There is no answer to any problem, there is only an understanding of the problem."

- J Krishnamurti

A typical day looks like

Life at Nihada Arana is simple, designed to help unravel and understand the chaos of the truth seeker. The Venerable Sangha (Mendicant Monks) and the overnight guests are at ease following the seated and walking meditation practices at their leisure.

It’s a journey of unlearning that begins with one part knowledge and one part Śraddhā (absolute faith in the scriptures and the teacher) while attending the two daily sermons and as the Ven. Gnanaweera Thero guides your practice and helps you take the next step on your journey.

Nihada Arana is a temporary shelter for the truth seeker and is free of charge. You can help around the garden, clean the facilities or assist in the kitchen with mindfulness. The journey of the truth seeker does not begin in solitude, it’s about finding creative ways to practice mindfulness and experience happiness in everyday life.

Dive In, Get Involved

Nihada Arana is completely dependent on the generosity of the lay community for basic requisites such as food, robes, shelter, medicine and the other administrative expenses of the Meditation Centre and the resident Venerable Sangha (Mendicant Monks) for their well-being.
